Friday Find: Help fund more “BBQ with Franklin” videos

Aaron Franklin is looking for help when it comes to his BBQ with Franklin web series.

We’re looking for community support to fund this project. KLRU is a non-profit public media organization and relies on community support for funding. Response from the first web season of BBQ with Franklin was smoking and we’ve been getting messages every day asking for new videos. We want to deliver them as soon as we can, so money raised during this campaign will go directly to the finishing costs and post-production of the second series.

The campaign will close on November 25 and has a goal of $25,000. More details here.

“The Science of BBQ” (which has been floating around the past week or so) takes a look at barbecuing/smoking from a scientific perspective. The video interviews Aaron Franklin, and thus it focuses on Texas barbecue and specifically brisket, but I believe the science of smoking would be applicable to pork as well. The True ‘Cue guys even get a shout out.

– A little late to the party, the Durham Herald Sun has a story on ‘True Cue and their righteous crusade

– The Lexington Dispatch also has a story on True ‘Cue and highlights several Davidson County joints on the list

Businesses on the list from Davidson County are Speedy Lohr’s Barbecue, Stamey’s Barbecue of Tyro, Speedy Lohr’s BBQ of Arcadia, Smiley’s Lexington Barbecue, Smokey Joe’s Barbecue, Tarheel Q, Troutman’s Barbecue in Denton, The Barbecue Center, Cook’s Barbecue and Lexington Barbecue No. 1.

“BBQ with Franklin: The Brisket”

Speedy and I are smoking a brisket for the first time for the Super Bowl this weekend, so you better believe we will be using this video (along with the second part below) as a reference. And in case you missed it, Aaron Franklin is getting his own tv show in 2015.
