Midwood vid

In honor of our first re-review, here is a short, nearly 4 minute video on Midwood Smokehouse made a few years back. Owner/restaurateur Frank Scibelli is prominently featured throughout the video, and it partially focuses on their smoker that they have apparently gone to great lengths to keep its manufacturer a secret (although one YouTube commenter believes it is an Oyler pit and based on what I’ve seen, would agree). Enjoy the lo-fi.

A short documentary entitled Skylight Inn’s Whole Hog BBQ about the Skylight Inn and Sam Jones.

Sam Jones is the seventh generation pitmaster of his family’s BBQ restaurant, the Skylight Inn. Since 1947, the restaurant has become an icon in the BBQ world for selling one thing and one thing only: chopped Eastern-style North Carolina whole hog pork—served only on a bun or in a tray with corn bread. As Sam Jones says, when the customers arrive at Skylight Inn, “they’ve already made the decision of what they’re gonna be eating for lunch, it’s just a matter of how much of it they’re gonna have.”

A short video from the AP on the True Cue guys and their “cue-sade” (nice) against “faux ‘cue.” Allen & Son Barbecue and its pitmaster Keith Allen are also featured, along with a couple of very Breaking Bad-inspired uses of a Go Pro Camera.
